These empty nesters were ready to downsize, and in order to lock in their new dream home, we had to make this dated one much more appealing to potential buyers. We spent a good chunk of the budget restoring the stunning spiral staircase in the entrance, and high-impact upgrades like wide-plank hardwood throughout left everyone—including us—floored.

DOWNWARD SPIRAL
The carpeted curved stairway was looking a little rough, but we immediately saw its potential. We replaced every single tread with solid, stained wood and upgraded the railing from clunky wood to custom wrought-iron. Can you imagine being greeted by this stunned every time you walk into the house?
NEED TO VENT?
Previously, the statement piece in the kitchen was a low-hanging, dated chandelier. For a more timeless focal point, we installed a completely custom stainless steel range hood flanked by sleek upper cabinets.
SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS
What makes a great room, well, great? In this case, it’s a custom gas fireplace that stretches all the way up to the ceiling. A feature like this is basically catnip for potential buyers, who will immediately envision themselves cozying up in front of it.
