This home was, plain and simple, worn down from its owners’ busy lives: Ilca and Fernando spend most of their time juggling three small boys and an in-home salon with clients constantly coming and going. So while it didn’t need a complete makeover, we needed to pump up the value in nearly every room. After reclaiming the living room from a sea of kids’ toys, we spruced up the kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom with simple yet sophisticated features.

BATTEN UP!
One-of-a-kind decorative features add value to a home, but they don’t have to be expensive or complicated to install. This board and batten feature wall is a great example: We just glued and nailed strips of wood to one of the living room walls in a classic geometric pattern, then painted the whole thing in a sophisticated navy shade.
CLOSET CASE
Ilca was storing her pearls in a kitchen cabinet—clearly, this home was lacking in the organization department. A custom closet organization system in the master bedroom (this one has a pull-out tray for jewelry and small accessories) provides functionality, value, and peace of mind.
SHOWER POWER
Installing a glass shower door in the bathroom was a non-negotiable—it needed to be updated to tie into the rest of the home. This perfectly integrated custom enclosure (and a swanky rain showerhead for good measure) create a hotel-like ambience. All that’s left to do is throw on that fluffy robe.
