Property Brothers Forever Home: Hillary & Trae

Jump to a section

Hillary and Trae moved into their spacious 1970s split-level home eight years ago. So many of their kids’ “firsts” have happened there, along with holidays, family time, and get-togethers filled with many cherished memories. They love their home and never want to leave, but it was outdated and drab—the opposite of their colorful personalities!

Because they have a very open layout, they needed to renovate everything at once, a task that was too overwhelming to tackle on their own. They needed our help to reimagine their entire main floor and pool house, making it functional for them and their young family.

Design Highlights
Growing Into It

The original kitchen’s island was so small, it seemed like a baby version of itself. Once we raised the ceiling and extended the existing flooring, we were able to install the much larger island they craved.

Refreshed and Refurbished

The entertainment room was where the family spent most of their time together and had amazing features such as a cozy bar and fireplace. We refinished these pieces so that they better fit Hillary and Trae’s fun and modern tastes.

Getting Away From It All

Since Hillary works from home, she needed a place where she could focus without getting distracted by the rest of the family. We transformed the pool house into a flex space that can operate as a home office during the week and a guest room when grandparents want to visit.
