Actress, director, producer, and talk show host Drew Barrymore wanted to give Deb, her best friend and makeup artist of twenty years, a life-changing renovation. Both are single moms who have been there for each other during the highs and lows of their lives. For a long time, Deb has wanted her home to be a place where her son could bring friends over, but her divorce made it hard for her to maintain the necessary upkeep.

Design Highlights
Storage Galore
Storage is a must in any kitchen. We added more here by relocating the patio doors and wrapping the room’s perimeter with modern, wood-tone cabinets. The new kitchen island also works as additional prep space and a nice spot to have breakfast and hang out with Deb’s son, Mikey.
Light Dining
Deb loves a sunny space, and the new oak-tone hardwood floors will keep the kitchen bright and airy, just like she wants. This luxurious setup also sets a great backdrop for when she hosts dinner parties.
Out and About
Deb’s favorite place is her deck, so we expanded it to over twice its original size to make room for additional dining and seating options. Now she can savor the beautiful view whenever she wants and invite guests to enjoy it with her. (And Mikey can, too!)
