Drew and Jonathan are having themselves a merry little White House Christmas this year, and you’re all invited! On Sunday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV, viewers can tune into the White House Christmas 2023 special. It’ll give you an exclusive tour throughout the landmark home, decorated exquisitely from top to bottom. First Lady Jill Biden will be guiding hosts Drew and Jonathan throughout the house, decorated by an incredible 300 volunteers from all across the United States. Get ready for one of the most amazing Christmas light shows of the year!

Each year, the White House has a Christmas theme that the decor is styled around. Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy actually began the tradition of choosing a theme for the White House Christmas tree! Her “Nutcracker Suite” had pieces modeled after Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet. And this year’s choice is especially striking: “Magic, Wonder, and Joy.” It’s going to be every bit whimsical, but with a delightfully nostalgic feel to it. We’re picturing visions of sugarplums, traditional candy canes, sparkling ornaments, as well as splashes of color throughout. But we’ll have to wait and see! The White House decorations will also include an astounding 142,425 holiday lights, 98 Christmas trees, 33,892 ornaments, and 22,000 bells.

Drew and Jonathan are going to help build the White House holiday carpentry shop while volunteers work to assemble Advent calendars that will be put on display inside the East Room. Jonathan is even going to help decorate the rooftop tree above the East Entrance!

Look forward to an in-depth reveal of all the White House holiday displays. We’ll see everything from the Gold Star Tree honoring fallen US service members to the famous White House Christmas Tree in the Blue Room. Your little ones might be especially excited to see the corridor filled with letters to Santa, stamped and ready to be sent to the North Pole. In the Grand Foyer, we’ll even get to see Santa’s magical red sleigh with his nine reindeer suspended in mid-air. In addition to this, we’ll also get a private sneak peek into the Gingerbread White House, filled with renditions of pieces right out of the book ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, to celebrate its 200th anniversary.

We’re so excited to see you there!
