In honor of Canada Day on July 1, one of our favorite Canadians—Jonathan Scott—cooked up a delicious vegetarian hot dog poutine dish. He riffed off a recipe by another fabulous Canadian, Chef Matty Matheson, and shared his behind-the-scenes cooking on YouTube. The Jonathan Scott veggie dog poutine might not be exactly like that of the famous star of The Bear‘s, but he insists it’s just as yummy. Check out the video to follow along and see Jonathan’s tips and tricks for a flavorful recipe, as well as his thoughts on cleaning while cooking and everything he misses about his home country.

Because Jonathan eats vegetarian, he swapped out meat-based hot dogs for veggie dogs and used vegetable broth in place of bone broth, but he kept most of the other components of the recipe in tact. Combining cheese curds, peas, frozen french fries, vegetable broth, and veggie dogs might not sound like the most appetizing dish, but trust us, it was absolutely delicious! In fact, Jonathan was actually dancing at the end of the video when he got to taste his completed masterpiece.

Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think! Just make sure to tag @JonathanScott and @DrewandJonathan when you post your video. And don’t forget to wish a Happy Canada Day to your favorite Brothers.
