Depending on the size of your home, you might have a whole room for the little ones to play in, a space in the living room dedicated to toy territory, or maybe even just a toy box in the corner of the apartment. Drew and Jonathan have seen it all—and their very best kids’ playroom ideas all have one thing in common: They lean into creativity and child-like whimsy, of course, but they also prioritize organization and functionality. Play spaces should be fun, but they should also be safe and cozy! Even when the Bros have to get a little creative and blend the playroom into the living room, they’ve come up with so many ways to craft an ideal double-space for kids and parents alike.

We’re taking a look at their cutest playroom designs to date—from space-themed dens to cozy little corners—to bring you some inspiration for your own playroom! Here, you’ll find a bounty of playroom examples from our shows that incorporate soft textures, functional furniture, and child-safe pieces. Together, all of these combine to create a space the little ones can play without you having to worry about their safety. These playrooms will blend with the rest of the home, yet still stand as a source of imagination for the little ones, which is the most important of all!

01

Forever Home: Valerie & David

On Valerie and David’s episode of Property Brothers: Forever Home, the Bros wanted to create a more symbiotic space for the whole family, including their puppies and young kids. Drew and Jonathan designed a kids’ playroom in the basement, making their first floor less of a chaotic toy zone and more of a relaxing area for the whole family. Now, it has everything the kids need—including ample space for fun.

02

Forever Home: Janet & Kristopher

Janet and Kristopher were surprised to find themselves in the same house they planned to leave some years prior. But after kids and pets, they fell in love with their family home! However, there were some issues that kept gnawing at them, like the structural problems in their kids’ playroom. Drew and Jonathan fixed the insulation and water damage issues, and added some colorful, imaginative touches throughout the room for a cozy, creative vibe.

03

Forever Home: Brian & Kelly

They thought they’d be life-long New Yorkers, but after having their miracle baby, decided to head back toward their family on the West Coast. Brian and Kelly were so excited for their baby to have more space to grow up in, and to be near Grandma and Grandpa. But the first floor needed some work before they could really settle into their new life. And that included adding a playroom! Katherine got a plush, playful corner with a cute table to draw at, all the stuffies she could want, and a big chalkboard wall to let her creativity roam (and maybe deter her from drawing on the other walls…)

04

Property Brothers: Lexa & Peter

Lexa and Peter were ready to pack up and move after they sold their condo, but their place went faster than they planned—like, way faster. They’d been crashing at Lexa’s brother’s place while they found their new home, but the couple was eager to find their perfect fit. After going back and forth between the suburbs or the city, they finally compromised on a fixer-upper. One thing that was a non-negotiable in their new home? A playroom, of course! This dreamy little space-themed den has an organized bookshelf all their books and toys, and plenty of room for their out-of-this-world imagination.

05

Property Brothers: Larry & Jana

After Jana and Larry started renovations on their home, life had other plans. Two years later, there were projects left unfinished and pestering, and the couple was all but ready to throw in the towel. Drew and Jonathan came up with a plan that would best fit their needs and wants for the home, and that included incorporating a dedicated corner where their son could play. Noah’s playroom meshes perfectly with the rest of the living area while still beaming with child-like whimsy. The electric fireplace acts as a cozy way to separate the two spaces visually.

06

Property Brothers: Jessie & Joe

When Joe and Jessie and their twin toddlers began to outgrow their cramped condo, they knew they were ready for a change. So they looked to find a larger home with more room for everyone—and Drew and Jonathan delivered. In their dream home, the Bros helped design a spot where the twins’ imagination could grow with them, with plenty of space to play, draw or color, and pretend.

07

Property Brothers: Marc & Stephanie

Creating the best kids’ playroom ideas isn’t just about making the kids happy—though that is very important, too!—but it’s also about keeping parents’ happy. Marc and Stephanie were having major frustrations when searching for their dream home, getting outbid at nearly every property they found. Finally, they found the one, and though it needed some work, they were willing to get it done if it meant they could check off nearly everything on their wish list, including a playroom. With a cozy area rug surrounded by toys that spark imagination and a cute tent for little readers to explore new books, this play place has it all!

08

Property Brothers: Michelle & Rave

When it comes to kids’ playroom ideas, there’s nothing that Drew and Jonathan can’t create! But for homes that need to pull double-duty, it can be hard to find the perfect way to make the kids’ area blend well into the rest of the communal space. Luckily, the Bros had a good idea of what Rave and Michelle needed—the perfect space for entertaining guests and a fun zone for their two little ones to play within sight. This colorful yet adaptable space off to the side of the living area was the perfect place to craft a play zone to house their toys and supplies, with a fun rug to distinguish the kids’ area visually.
